Statement On Lend-Lease Agreement

A program like Lend-Lease, which means billions of dollars are being spent, has of course been the subject of criticism and misunderstanding. As in other lending and donor countries, the quantities and types of materials, services, etc., that will be delivered under these lend-lease agreements, will, as always, be adapted from time to time to changing conditions of war. Some critics have said that Britain should give us the proceeds from the sale of rental and loan property. But this is not in the spirit of the Lend Lease Law. The basic idea of lend-lease is not to link the consideration of money payments to items delivered to our allies and essential to their defense. .
